What is N divided by zero?

Questions with no clear answers bug me a lot…

Here’s one example from facebook…
3 men go into a motel. The man behind the desk said the room cost $30, so each man paid $10 and went to the room. A while later the man behind the desk realized the room was only $25, so he send the bellboy to the 3 guys’ room with $5. On the way, the bellboy couldn’t figure out how to split the $5 evenly between the 3 men, so he gave each man a $1 and kept the other $2 for himself. This meant that the 3 men each paid $9 for the room, which is a total of $27, add the $2 that the bellboy kept = $29. Where is the other dollar?

Should Einstein have publish his Mass–energy equivalence formula, E = mc^2? It’s a double edge sword that aided the development of nuclear weapons and nuclear power.

Would you have assassinated Adolf Hitler before World War II happened… or put in another way for those anti-murder folks… would you have saved Adolf Hitler from being assassinated… even with the knowledge that he would mastermind the holocaust, of 6 million people, years later.

What are the right choices? How do you answer these questions? How do you choose between the devil and the deep blue sea?
Sometimes, i guess there isn’t answers simply because we’re asking the wrong questions.

  1. For those wondering about the facebook question here’s my answer to help you sleep at night hehe…

The money in total was 30 bucks. When the bellboy returned each man a dollar, the money in total became $27. This amount is correct since 25 bucks was with the man behind the desk and 2 bucks with the bellboy. The logic becomes flawed when you take $27 and add $2 to it to get $29 and then ask where is the missing dollar.
