Pre-requisite: Have an email account.

In two simple steps…

Step 1:

Sign up for a free hosting account with byethost.com

Enter your email, a username and a password, select a site category and language, accept the terms of service, enter the security code and click the submit button.

Step 2:

You should receive an email from byethost within 5 minutes.
(If you don’t see the email look inside your spam/junk mail box)
Jot down the following information in the email:

• Your URL (e.g. http://pengkong.byethost17.com)
• Cpanel URL (e.g. http://cpanel.byethost17.com)
• Cpanel Username (e.g. b17_863232)
• Cpanel Password
• FTP Server (e.g. ftp.byethost17.com)
• FTP Login (e.g. b17_863232)
• FTP password
• SQL Username (e.g. b17_863232)
• SQL Password
• POP3 Server (e.g. mail.byethost17.com)
• POP3 Username (e.g. b17_863232)
• POP3 Password

Hooray! Your free web host account is all set to go!

Ok there’s one more thing…

Setting up a database for your hosting

1. Browse to the Cpanel URL
2. Login using your Cpanel Username and Cpanel Password
3. Click MySQL Manager
4. Enter a database name in the box (e.g. mydatabase)
5. Click the “Create Database” button

Jot down the two new pieces of information:

• SQL DB Name (e.g. b17_863232_mydatabase)
• SQL Host Name (e.g. sql2.byethost17.com)

Now you have 250mb of web space and a MySQL database to play around with.
